Angesichts des offen vom Zaun gelassenen Krieges gegen die Ukraine sind Zynismus und Verbitterung gerade keine gute Hilfe. Sollte jemand sich in der aktuellen Situation gelähmt und desorientiert vorkommen – vergewissert euch, ihr wollt was tun, damit der Krieg aufhört, aber ihr wisst nicht was. Kyrilo Tkachenko (falls es kein Name sein sollte, es war Kyrilo, der 2014 auf indymedia linksunten die Spendenkampagne der Roten Hilfe für pro-russische „Antifaschisten“ angeprangert hat) macht für den Anfang einige Vorschläge allgemeiner Natur:
In case you want to support Ukraine but you don’t know what to do. A couple of humble suggestions.
First of all, you should have no doubts that your personal efforts matter. Taking part in a demonstration, signing a petition, writing a letter to your MP—everything counts. Even your personal statement on Facebook should be regarded as a little contribution.
Secondly, one should be clear about the goals and the addressee of your efforts. Basically, there are two major hindrances to the eventual Russian aggression: (1) the ability of Ukrainian army to resist, and (2) the strength of the Western sanctions.
(1) Ukraine needs weapons, especially those able to shut down Russian missiles and bombers. Modern anti-missile and anti-aircraft weapons is a must. If we get them, the chances of Ukrainian army to defend the country are substantially higher. If we don’t get them, the probability of Mariupol, Kharkiv or Kyiv turning into a new Grosny or a new Aleppo is extremely high. Please don’t have any doubts that Kremlin is capable of doing it. And don’t forget that Ukraine is home to four nuclear stations, including the one in Zaporizhzhya in Southern Ukraine—the largest nuclear station in Europe.
(2) Sanctions should include things still avoided by the collective West, like expulsion of Russia from SWIFT, complete ban of trade etc. Well, the world may suffer from it economically, but to a lesser extent as compared to the consequenses of a World War III.
In both cases, the (1) and the (2), you have a broad range of opportunities to pressure your respective government (the addressee of your efforts!).
P.S. The last but not least. If your are not ready to pressure for (1) or (2), at least you can abstain from victim blaming (Ukraine) or showing any kind of understanding for the phantom limbs pains of the crumbling empire (Russia). Portugal or the Netherland used to be bigger as well—so what? In case you, nevertheless, still believe that Russia should get something, than – please! – leave Ukraine alone and fight for finlandisation of your own country or try to appease Russia with Eastern Germany if your are German, Alaska if your are American etc. Why? Because it is not for you to you to decide about our lives.
Um das mal zu konkretisieren:
Die NGOs Libereco und Vostok SOS kümmern sich um die Verpflegung von Zivilisten in Gefahrengebieten.
Das libertäre Graswurzelprojekt Operation Solidarity sammelt für die sog. Territorialmilizen und evakuierte Leute.
Die zivilgesellschaftliche Stiftung Powernis‘ shivym supportet Militärangehörige und Veteranen der ukrainischen Armee.
Last but not least hat die ukrainische Staatsbank ein Konto für Spenden direkt fürs Militär eingerichtet. Ja, die Ukraine braucht Waffen, braucht Logistik usw. usf., um den Angriff abzuwehren.
Es ist jetzt schon was möglich und die Möglichkeiten werden mit der Zeit mehr. Ich bin jedenfalls der Meinung, für den Anfang ist es immer noch besser als Aufrufe zu abstrakter internationaler Klassensolidarität oder wie auch immer das immer heißt. Keine Sorge, UkrainerInnen wissen, dass sie alleine kämpfen müssen.
Polen hat gerade die Grenze für Flüchtlinge aus der Ukraine geöffnet. Sorgt dafür, dass Deutschland sich wenigstens an humanitärer Hilfe beteiligt, wenn schon der viertgrößte Waffenexporteur der Welt vor lauter Verantwortung Russland gegenüber für militärische Hilfe keinen Arsch in der Hose hatte. Danach wird man nicht ukrainische Straßen wiederaufbauen, man wird auch die zertrampelte russische Gesellschaft reparieren. Das aber vielleicht später, „danach“. Vielleicht wird man überhaupt alles reparieren müssen. Organisiert euch, werdet tätig und – vor allem – fürchtet euch nicht. Dafür ist es zu spät.
